Introducing Our Occupational Health Department

In October, we took an exciting step forward at Workplace Scientifics with the launch of our Occupational Health department.

For a long time, occupational hygiene has been at the core of what we do. Helping businesses identify, assess and manage workplace health risks is something we are deeply committed to. Opening an Occupational Health department felt like a natural next step, allowing us to support our clients in a more complete and joined-up way.

Occupational health and occupational hygiene go hand in hand. By offering both services under one roof, we can now help businesses not only understand workplace risks, but also support the health and wellbeing of their team more directly.

Why Occupational Health Complements Occupational Hygiene

Occupational hygiene focuses on identifying and controlling workplace hazards such as noise, dust, chemicals and other exposures. Occupational health builds on this by looking at how those hazards affect people, through general health surveillance, targeted health monitoring and practical wellbeing support.

By combining both services, we can:

• Provide clearer, more practical advice

• Reduce the need for multiple providers

• Create a clearer link between workplace risks and employee health outcomes

• Support compliance in a more efficient way

For our clients, this means simpler processes and better continuity of care.

Building the Department the Right Way

We were able to set up the Occupational Health department thanks to the addition of Heather, our Trainee Occupational Hygiene Associate, who joined us with a strong background in healthcare.

Heather has played a key role in helping us establish the department, bringing valuable insight from her healthcare experience and supporting the development of processes that work in real-world settings. Her knowledge has been a huge asset as we expanded our services. Here's some feedback we received from one of our clients on her first site day...

Heather’s Perspective

As part of building this new service, we also wanted to share Heather’s experience of joining Workplace Scientifics and being involved in setting up the Occupational Health department from the ground up.

"Since joining the company, I’ve transitioned from working in a prison healthcare team to beginning my journey as a Trainee Occupational Hygiene Associate, while also helping to develop our Occupational Health service. I’ve really enjoyed shadowing the occupational hygiene consultants, travelling to a wide range of sites and meeting our lovely clients. Looking Ahead

Launching our Occupational Health department is an important milestone for us, but it is also just the beginning. Our aim is to continue developing a service that is practical, supportive and genuinely helpful for the businesses we work with.

By offering both occupational hygiene and occupational health, we are better equipped to help our clients manage workplace risks, protect their people and meet their responsibilities with confidence.
